Reid Announces $200,000 For Families Of Children With Disabilities

September 22, 2009

Washington, D.C. –Nevada Senator Reid announced today a federal grant of $200,000 for Nevada P.E.P., the state’s Parent Training and  Information Center for families who have children with disabilities.

“This funding will be put to good use on behalf of Nevada’s children with disabilities and their parents. I’m so pleased that Nevada P.E.P. will have additional resources to help families access services and give their kids a brighter future,” said Reid.

The grant is funded by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities through its new “Family Support 360” initiative, which is designed to create more one-stop centers where families can go for all of their needs like early intervention services, education, and affordable child care.  Senator Reid supported the passage of the law that created this program, the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000.
