 Increase Non-Polluting Nuclear PowerNo nuclear power plants have been ordered in the United States since 1978, and more than 100 reactors have been canceled, including all ordered after 1973. Yet, nuclear power plants provide 20 percent of our electricity, and is the number one source of emission-free energy. Nuclear power generation produces no greenhouse gases. France receives 75 percent of its electricity from nuclear plants. I joined in offering H.R. 6132, a bill authorizing the energy Department to promote nuclear fuel recycling. Recycling would reduce the amount of waste fuel needed to be stored while increase the amount of nuclear fuel for power generation. |
