Dent Sends Letter to WH Requesting Category B Declaration in Response to Sandy

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Charlie Dent issued the following statement on PA delegation letter to President Obama requesting a Category B declaration for the Commonwealth

“Today, I, along with my colleagues in the House sent a letter to President Obama requesting Category B emergency protective measures and debris removal as part of the pre-landfall disaster declaration issued on October 29, 2012. At this time, the Commonwealth has only received approval for direct federal assistance.

“Pennsylvania was predicted to be “ground zero” for the convergence of Hurricane Sandy and other weather systems. Governor Corbett took the necessary precautions and prepared for impact.

“The President’s approval of a Category B declaration will alleviate some of the costs associated with protecting the citizens of Pennsylvania, but additional costs were incurred in preparation for the storm for which expenses will need to be reimbursed.”

Congressman Dent represents Pennsylvania’s 15th District, which includes all or parts of Lehigh, Northampton, Montgomery, and Berks Counties.
