Rep Honda on House Republicans and Paul Ryan PDF Print E-mail

“The rigidity of House Republicans -- led by their torch bearer, Paul Ryan -- have led us down a path of a cuts only approach for two years now.  I don't think they're being good-faith negotiators, and I think it's pastime that they prove they're serious about tackling this problem and cough up some revenue.  It's pastime they put Grover Norquist in his place on the sidelines.  Not a single American should take them seriously until they do.”

“The government should be putting wind at the back of Americans striving to secure jobs and build a future, not kick them while they’re down.  It is simply unfathomable that Paul Ryan’s budget -- which he claims is inspired by his Judeo-Christian faith -- asks the most sacrifice from those with the least.  It is unfathomable that Republicans would first take an ax to programs that provide food to the hungry and health care to the poor to get our fiscal house in order.  It is unfathomable that we let them.”

“Now, more than ever, we must convince the American people that positive solutions to our debt and deficits are still within our grasp.  I respect Vice Presidential nominee Paul Ryan.  I believe he's a patriotic American that loves his country and his family.  But I also believe that his governing vision is complete wrong for this country.  The so-called “solutions” offered by the Republican ticket would turn back the clock on our most vulnerable.”
