Congressional art contest

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

The annual Congressional Art contest, An Artistic Discovery, has been promoting America's young artists for 30 years.  It is now time for students to take advantage of this excellent opportunity.

I have established a deadline for artwork submission of April 23, 2012.  The artwork must be an original piece with the student information and release form attached.  A judging panel from Lakeland Community College's Art Department will select the top four submissions and rank them accordingly.

As in years past, the 1st place winning art piece will hang in the capitol building for one year. The student with the winning entry will be invited to attend a reception in Washington, D.C. on June 20, 2012.  The second place artwork will hang in my Washington office for one year.  The third place artwork will hang in the lobby of my Painesville district office for one year and fourth place in my Twinsburg office for one year.

I will have two drop off sites, one located at my Painesville office at 1 Victoria Place, Room 320 Painesville, Ohio 44077 and the other in my Twinsburg office located at the Twinsburg Government Center, 10075 Ravenna Road Twinsburg, Ohio 44087.  For added convenience, I have uploaded copies of the student release and guidelines to the website.  The Congressional Art contest is handled through my district office in Painesville.  Please feel free to call the office toll-free at 800-447-0529 if you have any questions.
