“The answer is yes. We can do this. The mandate from the election was to work together.  The mandate from the election was for Republicans and Democrats work together to find common ground to make the U.S. economy the most robust and dynamic economy in the world, and we can do this.

“What we’ve got to avoid is some of the politics of the past, the zero-sum game politics.  In other words, where you win, I lose type of politics. That’s not where we need to be as a nation.

“So what I think you’re seeing coming out of Washington right now is an attitude that says, let’s put new revenues on the table through growth and the elimination of loopholes and other nonsense in the tax code, let’s deal with the underlying spending problems that are continuing to drive these deficits. And if we do those things together in a way that brings consensus, we can have an economy that’s robust and dynamic. I’m positive that we can do it, and I’m honored to be part of the solution.”

Ask Peter videos are available to the public at Roskam.house.gov,  facebook.com/reproskam, twitter.com/peterroskam, and via press release. The videos are sent to constituents via e-mail, Facebook, or Twitter, depending on how they contacted the Roskam office.
