(Goshen, NY) – U.S. Congresswoman Nan Hayworth, M.D. (NY-19) welcomed seventy-four local employers and career organizations, and over 1,400 prospective job seekers in attendance throughout the day, at her jobs fair for Hudson Valley residents held yesterday, March 26, 2012, in New Windsor, New York.

“Helping people in the Hudson Valley have the employment opportunities they need is a top priority for our congressional office. Today’s fair connected more than a thousand people who are looking for work directly with the people who are hiring " said Hayworth. "We couldn't have done it without the partnership of the Orange and Dutchess County Chambers of Commerce. Thanks go to them and to all the businesses and organizations who made today a success."

Hudson Valley employers seeking new hires in a wide range of fields including health care, manufacturing, technology, financial and retail agencies accepted resumes and met with interested applicants throughout the fair. The jobs fair was held in coordination with the Orange and Dutchess County Chambers of Commerce, who presented a series of workshops and informational seminars focusing on interview skills, resume writing, networking and job search information.

“I'm working very hard on the Washington side as well to assure that the federal government helps, rather than hurts, our economy and hiring," Hayworth continued. “That’s why I’ve been working with fellow Members in the House of Representatives to encourage our small businesses, entrepreneurs, and employers to grow, by eliminating red tape and cutting federal budgets.”
