INDIAN HEAD, MD – Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) attended the opening of the Energetics Systems and Technology Lab Complex at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division.

“I was pleased to join the Indian Head community today for the ribbon-cutting ceremony for a world-class facility that will support the important work they do,” stated Congressman Hoyer. “This new complex will bring together 100 engineers, scientists, and staff in a modern facility that has the work space and secure areas to support classified programs. Pulling together their talent will foster better collaboration and add synergy to their efforts here. I’d like to thank the men and women who will occupy this space for the work they do to develop, test, and manufacture the newest generation of energetics systems for our military, and I will continue to work with Indian Head, the Department of Defense, and other officials to ensure this critical military installation has the funding and resources to carry out their mission.”

The Energetics System and Technology Laboratory Complex is a 27,604 square foot multi-story building for the Engineering Directorate of Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division. The building will house engineering lab space, inert work space, office space and a secure area for 100 employees. These workspaces were previously spread out among ten buildings, which were deteriorating in condition and insufficient in size and configuration. Many of the buildings were not ADA-compliant, and did not have the proper access control to support classified programs.
