Hoyer Visits Fifth District Cooling Centers PDF Print E-mail

EDGEWATER, MD – Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) visited the South County Senior Center and the Anne Arundel County Police Southern District Community Meeting Room, two cooling centers open to Fifth District residents who are still without power following the storm on Friday evening.

“Unfortunately, far too many Fifth District residents are still without power following Friday’s storm,” stated Congressman Hoyer. “I encourage all Fifth District residents still waiting for service to be restored to visit a local cooling center and to stay cool and hydrated, given the extreme heat. I will continue to monitor the response, and work with officials to ensure the Fifth District has the necessary resources to recover from the storm.”

Residents without air conditioning are encouraged to visit cooling centers, or if possible, visit family or friends with power. Residents should also be cautious during extreme heat, and drink plenty of non-alcoholic beverages to stay hydrated.
