WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement on the 10th anniversary of the La Plata tornado, which is tomorrow, April 28:

“Ten years ago, three people lost their lives and buildings and homes throughout the town of La Plata were destroyed when a tornado struck. In the face of this tragedy, members of this community came together to support one another in the days and months after to help each other recover. Challenges were faced and through the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors, La Plata rebuilt and continues to be a place many are proud to call home. On the anniversary of this tragedy, let us pause to remember those lost, but also to remind ourselves of the importance of community.”
