HUGHESVILLE, MD – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement after attending a networking event and job-focused workshop for the Fifth Congressional District’s Young Professionals on Monday evening:

“In the face of a recovering economy, young people today are confronted with the great challenge of making their way in an unpredictable job market,” stated Congressman Hoyer. “Together with local professionals, we are working to ensure that our young people can advance in their careers and find good paying jobs that will help them achieve their goals. This event provided a unique opportunity for these young leaders to meet with accomplished professionals to enhance their personal and professional growth, further their career development, and learn about the importance of community involvement.”

The workshop – part of a continuing series of events for local young professionals – included sessions on job skills and training, job readiness, resume building, career coaching, and financial literacy and managing your credit history. Leading the discussions were representatives of the Fifth District Women’s Network Advisory Committee, Southern Maryland Tri-County Council, Job Match Re-Employment Project, CSM Community Relations and Career Services, and Parker Financial, LLC.
