I have formed a Congressional Youth Forum comprised of high school students residing in the First Congressional District of Virginia. The Congressional Youth Forum is a discussion-based group which serves as a tool and an outlet where students have the ability to develop instrumental ideas to positively impact our government and policy-making. As participants of the Forum and related events, high school students have an opportunity to learn more about the U.S. government, public policy, the law-making process, internships, how to get a job on Capitol Hill, and information regarding current events.

Students who participate in the youth forum have a keen interest in government policy-making and being a voice for the youth in their community. I understand how important young people are to the future of our nation and believe it is important for Members of Congress to understand issues of concern to them and discuss ideas they have. Throughout the year I will invite guest speakers, to sit down with the group to listen to the concerns that the youth in our nation are facing, and to discuss a variety of issues, such as new media, education, energy, the environment, and national security.

If you are a high school student, live in Virginia’s First Congressional District, and are interested in participating in the Youth Forum, please contact my Washington, DC, office at #202-225-4261 for more information.
