Conference Call On The 21st Century Postal Service Act

On Thursday, April 19th at 3:30 p.m. EDT, please join Senator Mark Begich, Chairman of the Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee, Senator Richard Durbin, Assistant Majority Leader and Senator Bernie Sanders for a Tele-Town Hall to discuss the 21st Century Postal Service Act (S.1789).

Senators Begich, Durbin and Sanders will discuss the pending 21st Century Postal Service Act (S.1789). The act seeks to put the Postal Service on a path toward financial viability while also protecting the rights of postal workers and preserving adequate postal services nationwide.

The Postal Service is the cornerstone of a $1 trillion mailing industry that accounts for more than 8 million jobs in various sectors. The Postal Service is in dire financial condition, and has lost $25.4 billion over the past four years. The bill would prevent the immediate closing of post offices and delay the suspension of Saturday delivery for at least 2 years.

This call is not for press purposes.
