Altmire Breaks Ground For Compressed Natural Gas Station in Beaver County PDF Print E-mail

 June 15, 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman Jason Altmire (PA-04) attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the first compressed natural gas (CNG) station in Beaver County, the fourth station built in western Pennsylvania. The CNG station, located at Beemac Trucking on 2747 Legionville Road, Ambridge, will be open to the public and will provide natural gas fuel to commercial and non-commercial vehicles.

"For far too long, our country has been dependent on foreign oil to meet our energy needs. With the installation of this CNG station in Beaver County and others throughout the region, we are one step closer to energy independence," Congressman Altmire said. "This compressed natural gas station is an investment in our future and utilizes a newer, cleaner, and locally-abundant energy resource."

As an original cosponsor of the New Alternative Transportation to Give Americans Solutions (NAT GAS) Act (H.R. 1380), Congressman Altmire has been a strong supporter of incentivizing companies to build CNG stations along with promoting the use of natural gas vehicles (NGVs). The NAT GAS bill would give tax credits for motor vehicles powered by natural gas and offer tax credits for the manufacturing of these vehicles. In addition, the bill would provide further tax credits to gas stations that utilize natural gas as a fuel option.
