Altmire Announces FEMA Grant for Logans Ferry Heights Fire Department
January 4, 2012
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Jason Altmire (PA-04) today announced a grant for the Logans Ferry Heights Volunteer Fire Department, located in Plum Borough, Allegheny County. The grant, totaling $83,600, is being awarded under the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program. The fire department will use the funds to replace old, outdated Self-Contained Breathing Apparatuses.
"This grant will help the volunteer fire department update critical equipment that will help them to continue to protect the more than 36,000 residents of western Pennsylvania they help serve," Congressman Altmire said. "I congratulate the Logan's Ferry Heights Volunteer Fire Department on this award and look forward to working with them to ensure the resources they need are available to them."
The AFG program helps firefighters and first responders purchase equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and other resources needed to protect the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards. Pennsylvania was awarded more than $600,000 in grants during the most recent round of Fiscal Year 2011 AFG awards. For more information on the AFG program, please click here.
