Altmire Job and Career Fair Draws More than 500 Job Seekers
October 19, 2011
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Jason Altmire today hosted a job and career fair at the Community College of Beaver County. More than 500 people attended the event which brought together the region's top employers who are in the process of hiring or will be hiring in the near future.
"As I travel throughout western Pennsylvania, I hear from people who are looking for jobs, of course, but I also hear from businesses that are ready to start hiring," said Congressman Altmire. "It was time these two groups got in the same room, and that's exactly what happened today. Employers and job seekers turned out in droves, and I was happy to be able to facilitate that. The western Pennsylvania workforce includes some of the smartest and most skilled people in the country, and I want this area to be a leader for job growth – today's event was a step in that direction."
In a show of the event's success, Allegiance Staffing, a multi-state staffing company with locations in Pittsburgh and Lancaster, who participated in today's job and career fair has already found a placement for a participant from today's event.
