Altmire Issues Statement on Passage of Appropriations Bill
November 17, 2011
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Jason Altmire (PA-04) today issued the following statement on passage of a consolidated appropriations bill to fund the federal government. The "mini-bus" includes three funding bills to support federal government operations, Agriculture, Commerce/Justice/Science (CJS), and Transportation/Housing and Urban Development (THUD), through September 30, 2012. In addition, the appropriations bill includes funding for all other agencies through December 16, 2011.
Congressman Altmire said:
"Addressing America's fiscal problems is not an easy task, but the one thing we can do to keep these problems from becoming worse, is to provide a sense of continuity to the American people, and that is what we started to do today. While there are some tough challenges ahead of us, these funding bills put us on the right path to addressing the nation's debt. I will continue to call for responsible cuts in spending and will work with my colleagues over the coming weeks to address our financial issues and provide the stability the economy needs to recover."
