Altmire Once Again Identified as One of the Most Independent Members of Congress PDF Print E-mail
January 11, 2010

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) -- Today, Congressional Quarterly Weekly – a non-partisan, Capitol Hill publication – identified U.S. Congressman Jason Altmire (PA-04) as having one of the most independent voting records in Congress. CQ Weekly’s chart identifying the Members of Congress who have the lowest party unity scores is available here .

Throughout his career, Altmire has consistently been identified as one of Congress’s most independent Members. Indeed, in March of 2009, another non-partisan, Capitol Hill publication – National Journal – identified Altmire as having one of the most centrist voting records in Congress.

Altmire has never missed a single vote during the three years he has served in Congress.

“When I came to Congress, I promised that I would work with both Republicans and Democrats to put in place policies that can help western Pennsylvania families,” Altmire said. “I am proud that over the last three years, I have kept that promise. My decision to vote for or against a certain bill will always be based on what that bill will do for western Pennsylvania, not whether it was written by a Republican or a Democrat.”
