Altmire Announces Grant for Local Workforce Development
(Washington, DC) - U.S. Representative Jason Altmire (PA-04) today announced that the West Central Job Partnership of New Castle is receiving a $250,000 Regional Innovation Grant to develop and implement a plan that will link education and workforce development services in Ohio and Pennsylvania. This will help workers throughout the area who have lost their jobs move into new careers. Workers in both Lawrence and Mercer counties in Pennsylvania and Mahoning, Columbiana, and Trumbull counties in Ohio will benefit from this funding.
"Continuing to better coordinate workforce development efforts in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio can increase our region's success in attracting new businesses," Altmire said. "Preparing workers for new careers will help residents gain employment in the short term and lay the ground work for economic success throughout our region in the long term."
