Altmire Statement on US Airways Selection of Pittsburgh for its Combined Flight Operations Center
(Aliquippa, PA) -- Rep. Jason Altmire (PA-4) issued the following statement regarding today's announcement that US Airways has chosen Pittsburgh for its combined flight operations control center:
"I am delighted with the good news that US Airways has picked Pittsburgh for its combined flight operations control center.
"The continued success of the Pittsburgh International Airport is critical to the future of western Pennsylvania's economy. This $25 million, 60,000 square-foot facility at the Pittsburgh International Airport will become the nerve center for all US Airways domestic and international flights. The selection of Pittsburgh for this center means 450 jobs will stay in the region and approximately 150 more will be added in the future.
"Today's announcement is the culmination of months of hard work and cooperation among western Pennsylvania's federal, state and local officials, but special credit must go to Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato, who worked tirelessly and effectively to position Allegheny County to put forward the best offer and land the operations center."
