McCarthy Statement Regarding Submission Of Pending Trade Agreements To Congress PDF Print E-mail

Washington D.C. – Congressman Kevin McCarthy released the following statement regarding the President's decision to submit the three pending Free Trade Agreements with Colombia, Panama and South Korea to Congress for consideration:

"I welcome the news that the President has finally submitted the three pending Free Trade Agreements to Congress for consideration. Our nation's economy needs pro-growth solutions to combat our unacceptably high unemployment and slow growth. We welcome the President's decision to come to the table and work with Congressional Republicans to finish the work needed to enact these crucial export agreements. Expanding foreign trade will help to create thousands of jobs here at home while opening up new markets to billions of dollars in additional U.S. exports, making America more competitive in this global economy."

Trade directly translates to support for jobs and the economy in California's 22nd District. In California's Central Valley, 139,627 jobs are directly supported by exports. In 2010, $44.3 billion in merchandise was exported from businesses in the region.
