McCarthy: Senate Democrats Have A Responsibility To Do Their Job, But When Will They? PDF Print E-mail

Washington D.C. – Congressman Kevin McCarthy released the following statement after Senate Democrats refused to consider the House-passed Cut, Cap and Balance Act, which is the only debt reduction legislation that has bipartisan support:

"Today, Senate Democrats voted to table the Cut, Cap and Balance Act, the only legislation that has bipartisan support, the only legislation that has passed the House, and the only legislation that would tackle our exploding deficits and prevent an impending debt crisis. Senate Democrats have shown zero leadership on the most pressing issues: our national debt, economic growth and job creation. Today marks 814 days since Senate Democrats produced a budget. Unemployment has risen to 9.2%, and yet Senate Democrats refuse to take up any legislation passed by the House to create jobs and grow our economy. We're hard at work to get our country back on the right track. When will Senate Democrats live up to their responsibility and do their job?"
