McCarthy: CBO Report Is A Wake Up Call To Washington Democrats PDF Print E-mail

Washington D.C. – Congressman Kevin McCarthy released the following statement reacting to the long-term budget outlook report by the Congressional Budget Office:

"This morning, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office issued a report detailing our nation's long-term budget outlook. This report confirms what House Republicans have been saying all along – we cannot recklessly continue down our current fiscal course and not face serious economic consequences. The American people know this, and they have demanded leadership from the White House and Congressional Democrats time and time again to no avail. Earlier this year, the President presented a budget to Congress that did nothing to tackle our debt or reduce our deficits. Senate Democrats have decided for a second straight year to forego proposing, let alone passing, a budget.

"Our crushing burden of debt threatens the prosperity of current and future generations of Americans. Due to the absence of leadership in Washington by the White House and Congressional Democrats, uncertainty hinders our small business owners and entrepreneurs, further threatening job creation. House Republicans have passed a budget that responsibly tackles our debt, makes America more competitive in a global economy, and removes the tax and regulatory uncertainty so that the private sector can grow our economy. It is time for President Obama and Congressional Democrats to step up and work with Republicans to avert our impending debt crisis."
