Congressman McCarthy Announces United States Service Academies Attendees PDF Print E-mail

Congressman Kevin McCarthy today announced that twelve students he nominated from the 22nd Congressional District will attend one of the United States Service Academies in the fall. To date, this is the largest class of incoming cadets and midshipmen who will represent the 22nd Congressional District.

"I'm proud to see so many young people in our community accepted into one of the United States Service Academies," said Congressman McCarthy. "I am confident these bright young men and women will excel in their respective academies, and am glad they will be among those our nation relies on to help ensure our national security. It's inspiring to see so many in our community qualified and willing to serve their country."

The U.S. Service Academies are among the most highly respected and challenging educational programs in the nation. The academies are looking for well-rounded young men and women who have demonstrated character, academic excellence, physical aptitude and have served in leadership positions within their school and community.  Graduates will receive a Bachelor of Science degree and a commission as an officer in the uniformed services.

Congressman McCarthy will be recognizing the following students from the 22nd Congressional District at his Bakersfield Office on Friday, June 10, 2011 from 5:30-6:30 P.M. This event will be open to the press.
