McCarthy Statement on Senate Passage of 1099 Repeal PDF Print E-mail

Washington D.C. – Congressman Kevin McCarthy issued the following statement today on the successful Senate vote on H.R. 4 to repeal the 1099 provision in Obamacare:

"I applaud the Senate for following the House and repealing the onerous 1099 provision created in the Obamacare law. As a former small business owner, I know firsthand the negative economic impact this burdensome mandate would have on job growth. Among its economically punitive components, this mandate would have required tens of thousands of new IRS agents to harass America's job creators. The repeal of this provision has bipartisan support and I encourage the President to swiftly sign this bill into law to remove this unnecessary burden for America's private-sector job creators. This is the latest step forward in fulfilling our Pledge to America to make it easier to create jobs and get people back to work. We still have more work to do, and House Republicans remain committed to seeing through our promise to the American people."
