McCarthy Statement on Ongoing Spending Debate PDF Print E-mail

Washington D.C. – Congressman Kevin McCarthy issued the following statement on the ongoing spending debate:

"House Republicans pledged to put forward an agenda that cuts spending and gets people back to work, and that's exactly what we've done.  It's been 34 days since the House sent a responsible spending measure to the Senate.  However, we still haven't seen anything resembling a serious proposal from the White House or Senate Democrats that would put our nation back on a path toward fiscal responsibility and economic growth.  It's irresponsible for Democrats on the Hill and in the White House to continue pushing for the status quo of more spending while playing political games intended to shut down the government.  Real people across the country are hurting and House Republicans will continue working to pass a responsible spending plan, but we can't do it alone.  It's time for Democrats to step up."
