Washington D.C. – Congressman Kevin McCarthy released the following statement regarding the Senate passage of the short-term continuing resolution:

"I am pleased Senate Democrats have finally realized that locking in the massive spending increases they put in place during the last four years is not an acceptable or credible way to address the debt and spending crisis in this country. We welcome the Democrats in joining with House and Senate Republicans to take the first step to reduce our long-term debt and improve our economic climate in this budget measure. Now it is imperative that we work together to produce a responsible budget for the remainder of the fiscal year that will remove more barriers to job growth by further reducing spending. The American people sent a clear message last November when they overwhelmingly elected representatives who were willing to take on the tough challenges facing our nation, and House Republicans will provide real solutions that will make our nation stronger."
