McCarthy Statement on Short-Term CR PDF Print E-mail

Washington D.C. – Congressman Kevin McCarthy released the following statement regarding the short-term continuing resolution:

"Last week, House Republicans took a meaningful first step in removing barriers to job growth and changing the culture of spending in Washington. Next week, the House will consider a short-term resolution to fund the government until Senate Democrats finally embrace the notion that current spending levels are unsustainable. Republicans' goal is to cut spending and reduce the size of government, not to shut it down. Our short-term proposal targets earmark slush funds and includes program terminations supported by President Obama. I cannot see how Democrats would hesitate to take these basic steps toward reining in spending while keeping our government operational."
