McCarthy: Unemployment Rate Reinforces Need to Cut Spending to Create Jobs PDF Print E-mail

Washington D.C. – House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (CA-22) issued the following statement regarding the latest employment figures released by the U.S. Department of Labor:

"While the decrease in the unemployment rate is a welcome development, the historically high level is a sobering reminder that too many Americans are still without jobs and are struggling to make ends meet. It's clear we cannot spend our way to prosperity as the President continues to propose. House Republicans will continue to focus on creating jobs by cutting government spending and eliminating barriers to hiring that are preventing businesses from adding new employees.

"We remain committed to fulfilling our Pledge to America because we believe America is a land of promise and each generation should have the opportunity to achieve success and prosperity in ways their parents only dreamed of. The House of Representatives is working to protect our future from the looming threat that our current massive debt levels pose so Americans can continue to be optimistic that their future will bring better jobs, increased security and more freedom to their families."
