2010 Census

In March 2010, more than 130 million addresses across the nation will receive a census questionnaire. The 2010 Census questionnaire asks 10 questions.

The census will count every person living in the United States, both citizens and noncitizens. Census data is used to reapportion the U.S. House of Representatives and determine the distribution of the Electoral College. Census data also affects federal funding distribution.

Summary Schedule of 2010 Census:

· 8-10 March – letter sent telling households to expect receiving Census questionnaire the following week

· 15-17 March – Questionnaire mailed to households

· 1 April – “CENSUS DAY”

· 1-10 April – Replacement questionnaire mailed out

· 22-24 April – Reminder postcard mailed to households

· December 2010-- Counts for state reapportionment released

· March-July 2011 – Census 2010 data released
