Immigration

Enforce our laws. Secure our borders. Support legal immigration.

Immigration reform is a complex debate, but it should start with some common sense requirements. It is imperative for Congress to support measures that will prevent illegal entry into the United States. American taxpayers spend billions on programs within the Department of Homeland Security to deal with illegal immigration. When our borders remain porous and illegal immigrants continue to stress our labor markets and social services, it indicates that we are not spending those billions effectively.

I oppose any legislation to extend Social Security benefits, grant blanket amnesty, issue driver licenses, or grant in-state college tuition to illegal immigrants. Congress must only support efforts during any consideration of immigration reform that promote fairness and emphasize the rule of law.
