Barrow Announces $1.2 Million In Transportation Grants For Savannah Water Ferry PDF Print

Washington, DC - Congressman John Barrow (GA-12) announced today that the Chatham Area Transit Authority will receive $1,216,744 in Department of Transportation appropriations grants for the Savannah Water Ferry - Riverwalk intermodal improvements.

The funds will go towards enhancing passenger access to the ferry, and connecting ground and pedestrian access to riverwalk facilities.  It will also help with the necessary removal of obsolete structures at the Savannah International Trade Center riverwalk site on Hutchinson Island.

"The Water Ferry is an important mode of transportation for Chatham area residents, and a fixture for the tourism industry," said Barrow.  "These funds will make sure that it continues to run smoothly for residents and visitors alike."
