Barrow Joins Bipartisan Fix Congress Now Caucus PDF Print

June 18, 2012

U.S. Congressman John Barrow announced today that he joined the bipartisan "Fix Congress Now Caucus" of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Caucus was recently formed by Congressmen Scott Rigell (R-VA), Reid Ribble (R-WI), Kurt Schrader (D-OR), and Jim Cooper (D-TN) with a mission of reforming the way Washington operates.

"In Washington, the days of agreement are few and far between, but folks back home can agree that the way we're operating now is getting us nowhere fast," said Congressman Barrow. "I joined the Fix Congress Now Caucus because we can't continue doing business this way. If we're going to improve this economy, get folks back to work, and get government spending under control, we've got to make changes on the inside. I'm honored to join this bipartisan group, and I hope other Members will join in our efforts to improve the way Washington works for the taxpayers."

Congressman Barrow is one of the first Members to join the caucus. The mission of the Fix Congress Now Caucus is to:

  • Improve the tone and civility of our debates;
  • Reduce House Committee structure complexity;
  • Reform the Congressional benefit system to make it more in line with the private sector; and
  • Improve the budget process to ensure an annual federal budget is passed by Congress.
