Barrow Statement on Final Continuing Resolution for FY 2011 PDF Print

Congressman John Barrow (GA-12) issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 1473, a bill funding the federal government for the remainder of the fiscal year.  The legislation is expected to be taken up by the U.S. Senate later this evening before heading to the President for his signature.

“After seven continuing resolutions, today the House passed H.R. 1473, a long-term continuing resolution that keeps the government open and provides funding for government operations for the remainder of the fiscal year. Although getting today’s agreement wasn’t pretty at times, this legislation shows that reasonable compromise and bipartisan cooperation are still possible.  We still have a lot of hard work ahead of us to shore up our nation's fiscal health, and as we work through these issues, it's my hope that we can bring the same spirit of compromise and cooperation that led to today's agreement.  When we work together, we achieve the best results for the American people.”
