Congressman Barrow is looking forward to visiting with veterans, and he’s got good news to share: Since last year’s meetings, he has introduced legislation that will give veterans valuable, on-the-job technical training and experience through the Army Corps of Engineers, which they can use to transition to good-paying jobs in the private sector.  He’s also introduced legislation to expand the Veterans Recovery Coordinator Program, which is one of the key recommendations of the Dole-Shalala Commission.

“Our nation’s veterans shouldn’t have to travel a long distance to meet with their Congressman, which is why I travel to meet them,” said Barrow.  “I hope veterans and their families will come by, learn about what I’ve been working on for them in Washington, and find out how my office can be helpful to them right here in Georgia.”

Among many other things, Congressman Barrow’s office can:

  • Expedite VA claims for veterans facing foreclosures and other hardships
  • Help with finding old military records
  • Provide advice for handling VA claims
  • Initiate Congressional Inquiries for all military branches
  • Help obtain benefits for widows and other survivors of veterans
  • Help with obtaining replacement medals and citations
  • Help with obtaining VA approved mortgages and GI Bill benefits

All of Congressman Barrow’s Veterans Town Hall Tour meetings are open to the public.
