Congressman Barrow Announces $150,000 Grant for Daniel Field Airport PDF Print

Washington, DC - 12th District Representative John Barrow (D-GA) today announced that Daniel Field Airport in Augusta will receive a $150,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation - helping fund runway maintenance, security and safety enhancements, and parking improvements.

"Daniel Field is an important gateway into the Augusta area," Barrow said.  "This money will help make sure that the region's expanding economic and transportation needs are met by two fully functional airports."

Located close to many of Augusta's medical facilities, Barrow also pointed out the valuable role Daniels Field plays in providing fast and convenient access for air ambulance and medical transport aircraft.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the money will be used to improve runway durability by sealing cracks in the pavement for Runway 05/23, as well as the parallel taxiway and the aircraft apron.  In addition, the grant will pay for new fencing and overhead lighting to be installed around the airport terminal and ramp areas.  The project will also pave the existing dirt access road and vehicle parking area located next to the terminal building.
