Georgia Congressman to visit six of the state's technical colleges; talk with local businesses that employ graduates of those schools; discuss challenges facing today's workforce

On Monday, August 22^nd, 12^th District Congressman John Barrow (D-GA) will embark on a three-day tour of six technical colleges that serve the residents and businesses of Georgia's 12^th Congressional District.  Stops are planned at Savannah Technical College, Ogeechee Technical College, Swainsboro Technical College, Sandersville Technical College, Augusta Technical College, and Athens Technical College.

"Georgia's technical colleges provide critical job training and workforce development skills essential in helping meet the needs of our communities and our local businesses," Barrow said.  "Technical colleges also play a key role in attracting new jobs and industries to the region, as well as helping businesses keep job training costs low."  

A member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce and the House Committee on Small Business, Rep. Barrow plans to also meet with local Georgia businesses that rely on the job and industry specific workforce training provided by these technical colleges.  In addition, Barrow will stop by Swainsboro Technical College's Jenkins County Center and Sandersville Technical College's Jefferson County Center.
