Rep. John Barrow and Local Officials to Host Town Hall Meeting in Savannah on the Region's Emergency Preparedness PDF Print

Forum organized to inform residents about the area's emergency management and evacuation plans

 

As communities across the country begin to take a closer look at their emergency preparedness and evacuation plans in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Savannah Congressman John Barrow (12th District), along with area officials, will host a town hall meeting in downtown Savannah this coming Monday to help inform local citizens about our region's response plans in the event of an emergency or natural disaster. 

 

The Town Hall is open to the public and will be held at the Savannah Civic Center, starting at 6:00 PM on Monday, October 17th.  Representatives from local first responders, as well as state, county, and city leaders, will be on hand to discuss the area's emergency response plans and to take questions.  Confirmed participants include:

 

·         Phillip Webber, Director of the Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA)

·         Pete Liakakis, Chairman of the Chatham County Commission

·         Edna Jackson, City of Savannah Alderman

·         Tom Bordeaux, State Representative from Savannah

·         Lester Jackson, State Representative from Savannah

·         Dan Flynn, Chief of the Savannah Metropolitan Police Department

·         Bill Lovett, Assistant Chief of the Savannah Metropolitan Police Department

·         Carl Palmer, Director of the Chatham Area Transit Authority

·         John Broderick, Deputy Director of the Chatham Area Transit Authority

·         Robin Wingate, Executive Officer for the Savannah Chapter of the Red Cross

·         John Wright, Director of Emergency Services for the Savannah Chapter of the Red Cross

·         Major Henry Hunter, Director of Communications for the Savannah Salvation Army

·         Linda James, Business Administrator for the Savannah Salvation Army

·         Charlotte Rehmert, Director of the Chatham County Dept. of Family and Children Services

·         Spencer Graves, Executive Director of Facilities for the Savannah-Chatham Public Schools

·         Kimberly Brown, Manager of the Savannah Career Center (Department of Labor)

 

WHAT:           Congressman John Barrow, along with state, county, and local officials, will hold an emergency preparedness town hall meeting.

 

WHEN:           Monday, October 17th, 2005 at 6:00 PM.

 

WHERE:         Savannah Civic Center, on the corner of Liberty and Montgomery Streets.
