House Approves an Additional $1,500,000 for Augusta Regional-Bush Field Airport PDF Print

Money will fund ongoing construction of the airport's terminal expansion project

Washington, DC - The U.S. House of Representatives this week approved a request by 12th District Georgia Congressman John Barrow (D-Savannah) for an additional $1,500,000 to help fund ongoing construction of the airport's new terminal building.  The money was included in the FY ‘08 Appropriations Bill for the Departments of Transportation and Housing and Urban Development.

"Every time I visit the Augusta airport, I see first hand the progress being made on the new terminal," Barrow said.  "Once this new gateway is complete, it will be a welcome addition to the city and the region - and a key part of the area's growing transportation and business infrastructure."

Since Barrow took office in 2005, the Augusta Regional Airport at Bush Field has received roughly $4,500,000 in federal funding for the airport's new terminal project.

The U.S. Senate still has to pass its version of the Transportation and Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Bill, after which both chambers will iron out the differences and agree upon a final bill.  Barrow is optimistic that this funding will be included in the final bill signed by the President.
