House Approves Barrow's Request for $350,000 in Funding for Highway 67 in Bulloch County PDF Print
Money will be used to widen State Highway 67 from I-16 to the Statesboro Bypass

Washington, DC - The U.S. House of Representatives this week approved a request by 12th District Georgia Congressman John Barrow (D-Savannah) for $350,000 in federal funds to widen Georgia State Highway 67 from U.S. Interstate16 to the Statesboro Bypass (Highway 301).  The money was included in the FY ‘08 Appropriations Bill for the Departments of Transportation and Housing and Urban Development.

"Bulloch County is growing by leaps and bounds, and it's important that the transportation infrastructure keeps pace," Barrow said.  "I drive on Highway 67 almost every time I visit Statesboro, and I've sat behind enough slow moving trucks on that road to know that this widening protect has been a long time coming."

The U.S. Senate still has to pass its version of the Transportation and Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Bill, after which both chambers will iron out the differences and agree upon a final bill.  Barrow is optimistic that this funding will be included in the final bill signed by the President.
