United States Senate Youth Program

The United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) is an excellent opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to deepen their knowledge of the Senate and the federal government overall, as well as receive a one-time $5,000 scholarship to the undergraduate college of their choice.  During your participation in the program, you will have a front-row seat on Capitol Hill, engaging in policy discussions and seeing how your elected representatives serve you in Washington.

Each year by December 1st, the chief state school officer in Massachusetts chooses two students to serve as delegates during Washington Week, which occurs in March.  Public and private high school teachers and principals nominate qualified students beginning in early fall.  To qualify, students must hold student body office or another elected or appointed position in their communities and show academic interest and aptitude in government, history and politics.

I welcome the opportunity to inspire the next generation of public servants who might one day lead our great country.   Please visit the U.S. Senate Youth Program’s website (http://www.ussenateyouth.org) for further information, including instructions on how to apply.  I look forward to hosting participants from Massachusetts in Washington, D.C.
