Internships

Serving an internship in Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison's office provides college students with an overview of the United States Congress. It enables them to work closely with Senate staff who are involved with all levels of the legislative process and responsible for constituent services. These internships are strictly voluntary in nature and are divided into Spring, Summer, and Fall Sessions. Internships are available in the Senator's D.C. office as well as in her state offices located in Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.

Washington, D.C. Internships

Interns are assigned to work with Senate staff who are responsible for Senator Hutchison's legislative, administrative or press operations. An intern's time is divided between substantive projects and support work (errands, copying, mailroom duty and answering phones). The Washington office offers the opportunity for students to observe the operation of the Senate and its interaction with the House of Representatives and the executive and judicial branches.

Texas Office Internships

State office intern duties include assisting staff members with casework and constituent requests, as well as providing general office support.
