WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Senator Susan Collins today released this statement following the death of former New Hampshire Senator Warren Rudman.
“Warren Rudman earned my deepest respect and admiration. I shall always be grateful for the support and counsel he gave me, starting with his visit to Maine in 1996 to campaign for me when I first ran for the Senate. He was a determined leader of great integrity who could be trusted to put principle before politics. He was a tireless advocate of Republican values, but he also understood that accomplishment often rests on compromise. In this respect, he remains an inspiration for those of us who remain to finish the work he started.”
