White House Tour FAQ

I must point out that submitting a tour request is NOT a guarantee that the White House will grant it. My staff will diligently work to make sure you are able to tour the White House but due to the popularity of the White House you or your group may not be approved. Tours are only denied because of this lack of available space or other scheduled events. The White House is closed on Sunday and Monday all year round. If you want to tour the White House during a holiday season please check with my office on the available dates.

A White House tour is dependent on availability for the given date as well as security measures at the White House. The Secret Service reserves the right to close the White House to tours at any time due to security precautions. I and my staff have no influence over the approval process. We will submit your request and do all we can to ensure you tour the White House. It is important to remember that we are working with other Congressional offices and this is the most popular tour in Washington. The White House reaches full capacity for tours months in advance for certain dates and therefore it is important to submit the tour request well in advance in order to ensure approval.

-        What security information is needed to tour the White House?

- In order to request tour of the White House, each party must fill out a security roster. The security roster includes: full name, date of birth, social security number, and current city and state of residency. Please be aware that submitting this information does not guarantee a tour will be granted of the White House. The White House Visitors Office decides which groups are approved or denied.

**Please DO NOT include this information in your tour request submission. Upon receiving your initial request my staff will contact you requesting the information.

-       How will I know if my White House tour request has been approved?

- Upon receiving notice from the White House concerning your tour request my staff will notify you of the status of your requested White House tour. White House notifications typically arrive two weeks before the requested dates of tour.
