Senators Stabenow, Levin Announce Support for Armada Township Fire Department to Hire Firefighters
U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin today announced support for the Armada Township Fire Department to help hire and retain firefighters. The grant comes through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
Senator Stabenow said, "Our firefighters provide critical, courageous service to Armada Township and communities across Michigan. This grant provides the resources they need to perform their duties safely and protect the public."
Senator Levin said, "The men and women who protect our communities from danger deserve our full support, and these grants will help them carry out their life-saving responsibilities."
The Federal Emergency Management Agency's Assistance to Firefighters program allows fire departments across the country to compete for federal grant money to improve local departments and keep communities safer. The Armada Fire Department will receive a $288,000 grant from the program.
