(Washington, DC) Congresswoman Corrine Brown is thrilled to announce that the Research and Innovative Technology Administration of the United States’ Department of Transportation awarded the University of Florida a $3.5 million grant to focus on ‘developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive research program that addresses critical needs related to safety, livable communities and economic competitiveness, to solve transportation problems of the Southeastern U.S. region and other areas experiencing population growth.’ As a key Member of the House Transportation Committee, Congresswoman Brown has worked for many years to develop solutions to best address the numerous challenges facing our nation’s transportation system. “I am thrilled to see that this funding will be granted to one of the top research universities in the country, the University of Florida at Gainesville!” exclaimed the Congresswoman. “And I am certain that these research dollars will go a long way towards improving the transportation system, both in the state of Florida, as well as throughout the South Eastern United States,” said Congresswoman Brown.
