(Washington, DC) Congresswoman Corrine Brown made the following statement:
“I commend the President for keeping his promise, honoring the U.S.-Iraq Security Agreement, and for fulfilling the desire of the American people to remove U.S. troops from harm’s way and to bring them home by the end of this year.
Today’s announcement brings our nation closer to the completion of a mission for which our men and women in the military and their families have made enormous sacrifices. Our nation thanks them for their bravery and dedication, and those who sacrificed their lives during this operation will never be forgotten. As a key member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, I will continue to work diligently with my colleagues to ensure that the veterans of the Iraq war, as well as all veterans who fight to preserve our nation’s freedom, will be properly taken care of upon their return. Congress must not just talk the talk but walk the walk, and make sure that our returning veterans have the economic opportunities, job training, educational training, health benefits, and all the services promised to them at their disposal to succeed and be taken care of when they return to the states.”
