Rep. King Fights for 9/11 Medal of Valor for Glenn Winuk

September 9, 2009

Eight years after Glenn Winuk died in the collapse of the World Trade Center the Justice Department finally agreed to recognize his heroism with a posthumous 9/11 Medal of Valor.

On Sept. 11, 2001 when the first plane hit the North Tower, Winuk, an attorney in a law firm nearby and volunteer firefighter for the Jericho Fire Department, helped evacuate the building he was working in, then rushed toward the World Trade Center.

Winuk died when the South Tower collapsed.

Below is video of Rep. Peter King & Sen. Charles Schumer, who were integral in obtaining the Medal of Valor for Winuk, presenting the Winuk family with the award.
