I welcomed a group of first year students from Elms College to my office and we had a lively discussion about Congress, politics and current events. I enjoyed hearing the students' perspectives on a wide range of issues.

There are a lot of good people who for a variety of reasons have found themselves outside the mainstream of American economic life.- This morning I stopped by the Springfield Republican to pick up my copy of "The Irish Legacy: A History of the Irish in Western Massachusetts." I was happy to sign a few books for distribution. This thoroughly reported historical account is a tribute to the significant role the Irish played in our region.
- This afternoon I toured Shakespeare and Company in Lenox to discuss how this organization contributes to the diversified economy in Berkshire County.
- Following yesterday's devastating explosion in downtown Springfield, I am reaching out to federal agencies for appropriate responses. I am committed to helping businesses remain in downtown Springfield and helping with the rebuilding process.
- As we gather with loved ones today on Thanksgiving, I ask everyone to take a moment and remember the tragic date of November 22, 1963. 49 years ago today our President John F. Kennedy was shot in Dallas. Let us never forget the generations ...President Kennedy inspired - and continues to inspire - with his zeal. I am one of those who counts President Kennedy as a role model; I will always remember watching him speak on the steps of Springfield City Hall the day before he won the presidential election. This afternoon I spoke as part of Springfield's annual memorial ceremony - the longest running such service in America- in front of our eternal flame. We are a better nation and a better world because of President Kennedy.See More

The successful renovation of Union Station has been a priority of mine for more than 30 years. I have always believed the restoration of this iconic Springfield landmark had the ability to transform the north blocks of downtown, our city, and our region; a renewed Union Station will bring a world class transportation center to western Massachusetts.Congressman Richard Neal shared a link.
