Robert Bork (1927-2012)

Robert Bork Once upon a time, Supreme Court nominees said what they actually thought and the Senate even took roll call, up-or-down votes on controversial judges. That time pretty much ended with the defeat of Judge Robert H. Bork in 1987.

Say it Ain't So!

Rita Jenrette Our name was taken from a racy Washington scandal of the time we began, in 1981. Just recently, former congressional wife Rita Jenrette spoke out and denied the legend, 30 years later! We're sticking with her original story.

We put the MOCK in Democracy!

Week of January 14

Republicans are still adjusting to the results of the election. Not only did they lose the White House and seats in the Senate, but even in the House they didn't exactly get a mandate since a million more House votes were cast for Democrats than Republicans. So what's the plan to regain popularity? Show tolerance for minorities, cooperate on the budget, and choose Rep. Phil Gingrey to replace Todd Akin as the new party spokesman about "legitimate rape."

Week of January 7

It's the start of a brand new year with a brand new Congress, and we can all look forward to...brand new scandals! We have hope in our souls that the new year brings us as much fun as the last and little doubt there will be as many stupid politicians. What could be better!?!

Week of December 31

Fiscal cliff or not, President Obama is sticking to the principle he ran on: redistributing wealth! Congressional leaders have been going back and forth but negotiations are basically going nowhere. With the clock ticking down, the president has been pressing his case — and getting ready to lay the blame.

First released on the album Take the Money and Run for President (2012)

Week of December 24

For all the talk of faith and religion in politics, one of the recent trends in the country's religious life is the rise of the "nones." According to a recent survey, 6% of Americans are either atheist or agnostic while 14% more are "nothing in particular." To all the rest of you, Happy Holidays!

From the special holiday album Weiner Wonderland (2011) — available exclusively on-line at iTunes and Amazon.

Week of December 17

The energy industry bet big on Romney and lost. Now it's worried Obama's going to deliver a big lump of coal by cracking down on current producers, while favoring far-fetched alternative energy sources instead.

From the special holiday album Weiner Wonderland (2011) — available exclusively on-line at iTunes and Amazon.

Week of December 10

Whether or not Susan Rice gets approved to replace her, Hillary Clinton is planning to retire soon as Secretary of State. So this could be Bill's last holiday season at home alone for a while.

From the album Barackin' Around the Christmas Tree (2009)

Week of December 3

With the election over and the fiscal cliff looming, both sides have stopped pretending to negotiate and moved on to the real business at hand: setting up who gets the blame when nothing is passed to avoid disaster.

Week of November 26

If the FBI can spy on the director of the CIA, is there anywhere you can hide? Anyone who's safe? And who else is watching? When it comes to your on-line life, don't bet that you can keep secrets about when you've been naughty or nice.

From the special holiday album Weiner Wonderland (2011) — available exclusively on-line at iTunes and Amazon.

Week of November 19

Two years after the Deepwater Horizon oil disaster, BP agrees to plead guilty to 14 criminal charges and to pay the largest criminal fine ever. Mitt Romney told us that corporations are people, and if only he'd won, he would have known how to put one in jail. Instead, the Obama Justice Department plans to hold just three individuals responsible for manslaughter, lying to Congress, and other charges so that the rest of the company can put its troubles behind it and get back to business as usual.

From the album Desperate Housemembers (2011)

Week of November 12

Voters gave President Obama four more years, and they gave him John Boehner too. The Republicans held on to the House majority they won in 2010, and no amount of wishful thinking or arguing about gerrymanders is likely to make them cooperate for long.

From the album Desperate Housemembers (2010). Watch a live performance video on YouTube.
